I'm not sure this is interesting more than compulsive, but all my towels and washclothes in the cupboard have to be folded and put away a certain way. If they aren't I have to take them out and re do them. (I do this quietly, late at night when no one is looking so they don't think I'm weird!! lol)

if the society were to finish publishing and closed down because of say bankruptcy from lawsuits, how long do you think the worldwide brotherhood would last?.
i feel this is a good question to ask those still in.would they still worship jehovah without the rigmarole of 5 meetings, personal study and preaching work and the monthly kingdom ministry and other regular literature.

Surely they would have to carry on to prove they really do follow Big J and not the Society. I think that it would collapse within 12 months.
IMO they don't worship Jehovah, so no I don't think they would last for very long without another centralized form of leadership. Anybody that was looking for a way out would take it immediately. All that would be left are the hard core JW, and old timers. The elders would be overwhelmed with having to come up with all their own material, no more manuscript talks and question and answer WT's.
With all the people on the fringe that would leave, others that would fall between the cracks, the money would dwindle, KH's would have to close and there would be no where to meet. It would be chaos!

thirdwitness -- an agent of the governing body?
this evening i was talking with an old friend about recent postings on this forum by jw defenders.
we concluded that something unusual is going on.
Al used to be a moderator on E-W's site. thirdwitness was active on EW's site. Both were banned. Al started his own site called jehovahsjudgement.uk (or something similar) and thridwitness was very active on there. There was a big broohaahaa between Al (and I think thridwitness was involved), EW, and Timothy Kline. I never really followed the whole thing that closely and it's been over for a while now.
That being said, there is no proof that the thirdwitness posting on this site is the same person.

my friend marion, who has been trying to fade, decided on a change of tactics, and sent the following letter to the elders last weekend:.

I have a wee bit of a problem with this statement. It's her house. I have had similar things like this happen in the past, and it wouldn't matter where the book was, JW's seem to be able to sniff things out that you don't want them to see.
Once, during a shepherding visit I was surprised when one of the brothers mentioned a book I had in the book case. This was a slim book, he would have had to really squinted to see the title. How he managed to see it I still can't figure out as the case was in a nook, and my chair was beside it, blocking most of the view. The book was about living with back pain (was having back problems at the time). While there was nothing wrong with that book, the fact that he had to actively look for the book is what shocked me. What else was he snooping around and looking for? Did he open all the cupboards in the bathroom while he was in there? Gawd I hate people snooping around in my stuff !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a problem with my mother when she comes over as well. I had some Christian books and CD's that were not out in the open, and there was no reason for her to be where they were. I hate people snooping in my stuf !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know that everyone goes through periods of doubt like the one I am experiencing now, and you will advise me that the meetings are the best place to resolve things, but I feel I need time to myself at this point, and would hope that you will respect my wishes, at least in the immediate future. I do not wish at present to discuss the thoughts that I have been having, so whilst I again emphasise how much I appreciate your concern at my absence, please respect my desire for privacy

i am rather new here, so i may be repeating a worn out subject.
however, for me it is rather a new experience, since i have only just recently stopped going to the kh.
my heart has never really been in it, though i am not in total disagreement and have made some nice friends in "the truth".
My mother used to lay the quilt trip on me too. With her it was "don't you want to see your father in the New System?".
Things were rocky for a while, but gradually when it finally sunk in she's pretty much given up and has come to accept my decisions.
When you are out on your own, you can limit contact and set some boundaries.
Hang in there.

its interesting how the wts tries to give marital advice via unqualified elders.
recently a friend of mine and his spouse have been having martial trouble.
he no longer believes the wts lies and maintains a low profile.
I remember feeling so guilty because I had to go care for my parents over many weekends. I did not go as often as I should have because I felt that I must be out in service with the Book Study more regularly, etc. If only I could redo things, I would have gone more often, and stayed longer just to be with them. It is too late to be with my father now. He is dead, and at the end things were so difficult and I could have been closer to him.
Quandry, something similar happend to me. When my father was ill in the hospital, no one from his cong came to visit him. He was in another city about a 35-45 minute drive away and in isolation. What the elders did was to contact an elder in that city to go and visit him. One elder. This elder I must say was a wonderful man and offered my mother comfort and hospitality.
When the elders questioned me on my missed meetings, I explained the situation with my parents (both were ill at the time). The one elder told me to tell them that it was meeting night and I could not come over to help them, it would have to be at another time. The meetings were to come first.
Please don't feel guilty. I'm sure your father appreciated all the time you did get to spend with him. If your parents are JW's then they would have understood about the meetings and FS. Don't beat yourself up - the time we have with our loved ones never seems like enough.

well, it's been about 6 months or so since i've turned in a time report and things are heating up a bit.
i still attend the meetings with my wife - i am still "visible" - but i have not gone out in service for a conspicuous amount of time.
just this afternoon the po called and wanted to meet with me.
If it's just a matter of not turning in time, and they question you on that, you could say you speak informally about your "beliefs" and really have no idea what to put down at the end of the month.
It's pretty impossible to keep track of informal time.
So, because you don't want to be dishonest, you don't turn in a time slip. Tell them you know what you do and so does Jehovah and feel this is the best thing for you right now. I basically told the elders something similar and it seemed to be enough for them.

Sounds like you have a great wife there Auld Soul. Shame on your father!!! Does he not know that Jehovah hates a divorcing (seperating is not much different IMO)?
I remember when hubby and I had missed some meetings. My father was ill, work was pressing etc. At that time I had not started fading, etc. We had a shepherding visit. The brother told us that we would end up divorced if we didn't start attending meetings more regularly. I was extremely upset over the whole visit, and asked them to leave.
